When we were asked to deliver the project at Pattingham Parish Council, we were faced with a quite a task, but here at NWS we love a challenge and love to make things happen.
What we did
Prior to starting, we noticed the site was quite sloped, so everything we did had to be installed in accordance to this and accurately measured to ensure correct fall heights and distances etc.
The park is also surrounded with protected trees, so our Herras fencing was setup in accordance with their environmental protection plan – trunk width x 12 away from the tree. This meant that the roots beneath the ground were always protected from any traffic we had on site.
Our Step By Step Process
Removal of steel kit to approved scrap recycling centre,
Removal of timber kit to approved timber recycling centre
Removal of rubber tiles; most of these were in good condition, so we called some local equestrian centres to see if they would like them for their stables. Sure enough they took them all. This is great as they cannot be recycled, so it is better them getting re-used than going to landfill
We now had a blank canvas to work on, so set about marking/setting out where the new playground furnishings shall go.
We started installing the kit at the bottom of the slope and worked our way up and out of the site
