MUGA
St Werburghs
NWS Delivered a fantastic project to St Werburghs Primary School in Huddersfield. This job was carried out in School holidays to avoid any disruption to the school.
What we did
Prior to starting, we noticed the access road to the rear of the school was very tight with parked cars either side of the road. We managed this by providing letters to the residents asking for them to be mindful of their parking locations during our working hours. We then used a banksman to escort every delivery and export in and out of site.
We used oversized machinery, to save on traffic across the site – bigger machines mean less trips across the school grounds with imported and exported materials, meaning the site would be ready for use as soon as they return from the holidays - no muddy, messy tracks that need fencing off while the grass seed establishes)
Our Step By Step Process
Set/Mark out Strip turf and remove to certified waste management site
Strip Top soil and stockpile
Excavate to depth and remove sub-soil to certified waste management site
Install Pre Cast Concrete Kerbs on a bed of ready-mixed concrete to perimeter to achieve finished level.
Import MOT Type1 Stone base and compact
Utilise the stripped off top-soil to re-instate any damaged/excavated areas – rake neat and grass seed
Import and lay open textured tarmac
Installation of the MUGA including panels
Installation of astro-turf complete with in-laid lines
Spread and brush kiln dried sand onto the astro-turf pile
Tidy, clean and thoroughly check everything on site
MUGA surrounded by fencing
